Backlight Compensation is a term which describes the mechanism by which an IP camera can compensate for backlight by enhancing automatic exposure control on the camera. For Example:- A person walks in a room with a flashlight or torch and shines the same, directly into the camera.

Through the image correction algorithm, Defog function can improve the visibility of an image and takes clarity in a foggy weather . 

In dark environment, Bright and Ghost free images can be obtain by using 3D Digital noise reduction.

EIS technology allow's Smart IP camera to negate the blurry effects which induced due to wavering and get stable images.

In Security, technology well turned out in the Face Detection which is a function of the camera that detects human faces by proper focussing & paralley in case of preconfigured setting, generates the alarm.

The IR light during the day time will causes the colors to become muter or less-vivid than they should be and may even make night time images have a slight blur to them.  The Mechanical IR cut filter exist's between the lens and the sensor to block IR light during the day and slides out of the way at night to allow the B&W mode to pickup the IR light, allowing True Day & night functionality in camera

Virtual Line Detection is used to define a virtual line within the camera. If someone crosses the defined line then it get's automatically cover by the camera & an alarm generate's .

In video surveillance, Motion Detection refers to the capability of  surveillance system to detect motion and capture the events. Motion Detection is usually a software based monitoring algorithm which detects Motion and will transmit the  signal to camera through which an event get's capture.

This behavior allows the user to define an object or area of interest in a scene. Motion is allowed in the protected zone, but if an object gets remove a preconfigured alarm generates. It is  ideal for museum, high-end retail and similar asset protection missions.

Through this smart feature the number of person's & number of vehicle's enter or exit in a  predefined area can be count. 

Privacy Hiding is a feature used to hide selected areas  from watching & observing by the installed camera.

ROI Codec Based or user-defined ROI (Region of Interest), camera can decrease a non-ROI’s image quality to save maximum bandwidth and storage, and those regions of interest will be smartly shown with better image quality under the same bit rate streaming conditions.

RAID (Redundant array of Independent Disk's) is a feature through which same data can be store on multiple hard disks. RAID, uses these disks in order to provide fault tolerance & to improve overall performance in a system.

ABF automatically adjusts back focus by adjusting the CCD position. ABF can eliminate the time required to manual adjustment of focus. It can also be automatically activate when switching from color to B/W mode.

 Smart IR technology takes a unique approach to IR illumination by combining zoom adaptive and content adaptive technology. The Smart IR technology is able to intelligently change IR lighting levels based on the scene while reducing motion blur and ignoring areas where there is no movement. This allows the beam of IR illuminators to focus only on the relevant content within the scene and ensures IR illumination is not wasted on irrelevant content.

Auto-tracking is camera based software, closely linked to motion detection, which will make a PTZ camera follow a moving object till it get's out of frame.

This module can quickly identify an abandoned object automatically. An alarm will be trigger when an object is left unattended over a predefined period of time . This functionality can be used to detect illegal parking, or vehicles staying too long in certain zones, etc. It can also be use to search recordings for events such as parking violations and blocked freeways.

WDR combine two fields, high shutter speed exposure in bright areas and low shutter exposure in dark areas into one composite image. This Feature help's to get clear image from dark parts without saturation from the bright part.

Dynamic DNS (DDNS or DYNDNS) is a method of automatically updating a name server in the Domain Name System (DNS), often in real time, with the active DDNS configuration of its configured hostnames, addresses or other information.

Detector or Sensor & Accessories Integrate's with an alarm system which give notification of an alarm event to the control panel. Door/window contacts, motion detectors, glass break detectors, and smoke detectors are some of the most common detectors which usually take in use.

Anti-Pass Back  is a function in which card is only enrolled for one time entry either card though to reader or through access control.

Access Card is an identification device which is assign to an individual by access control system for entry & exit.

Access code is alphanumeric password which can be store in access control for purpose of access though password.

Access control is a device which manage's all reader gates lock management and monitor's the system at centralized access  control panel.

In it a set of users can join in group for access classified in one department only

It is a device which have general terms for verifying individuals identification like fingerprint analysis, card password etc.

Door Switch is an on/off button.  If it is ON than gate will be open & if it is OFF then gate will be close

Electric door lock is a device which can be operate through remote.

A biometric reader can be identify  through fingerprint pattern and gets store in a reade

It detects any movement or motion based on disruption of infrared light waves.

These cards have in-built integrated circuit chip which have memory to use  and store the  data.

RS-485 is serial communicaton protocol which can be use for higher speed and longer distance communications.

Rs-232 is serial communication protocol which can be use for terminal communication purpose.

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network protocol that enables a server to automatically assign an IP address to a network device from a defined range of numbers  configured for a given network.

NTSC is short for National Television System Committee. The NTSC is responsible for setting television and video standards in the United States.The NTSC standard for television defines a composite video signal with a refresh rate of 60 half-frames(interlaced) per second. Each frame contains 525 horizontal lines and can contain 16 million different colors.

Phase Alternating Line (PAL) is a colour encoding system for analogue television used in broadcast television systems in most countries broadcasting at 625-line / 50 field (25 frame) per second.

The camera scans photographs and encodes the image into pixels.

Protocol is defined as a system of rules that explain the correct conduct and procedures to be followed in formal situations.

 Resolution is the number of pixels (individual points of color) contained on a display monitor, expressed in terms of the number of pixels on the horizontal axis and the number on the vertical axis. A much higher the pixels that much higher the resolution.

SMTP is stands for "Simple Mail Transfer Protocol." This is the protocol used for sending e-mail over the Internet.

TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is the basic communication language or protocol of the Internet. It can also be used as a communications protocol in a private network.

Automatic Network Replenishment (ANR) feature allows video data to be buffered on a camera's local storage in the event of a network outage. When the network connection is reestablished, this buffered video is used to replenish any recordings missed during the outage.

Vantage has two audio detectors:
noise detection - is triggered by exceeding a certain threshold volume level.
silence detection - is triggered when the microphone signal disappears completely.

Digital Imaging Systems (or “DIS”) is a total digitization solution suitable for valuable and irreplaceable cultural heritage objects. It conducts all processes from input (digital acquisition) to output in digital form. 

A digital watermark is a kind of marker covertly embedded in a noise-tolerant signal such as an audio, video or image data. It is typically used to identify ownership of the copyright of such signal.

Vantage has one of the exception detection which is defocus detection, This feature detect the defocus of the image and raise the alert.

P2P Cloud Video Management is a natural progression with technology improvements. It delivers video management applications over the internet  cloud rather than using software that is installed on your personal computer.

In Vantage DVRs/NVRs there is HDD Group Mode which is used to manage the multiples HDDs. Multiple HDDs get combined and made groups and video signals of the cameras can be recorded in specified HDD groups.

A HDD quota is a limit set by a system administrator that restricts certain aspects of video file system usage on DVRs/NVRs. The function of using HDD quotas is to allocate limited disk spaceto record specified video signals.

A heat map (or heatmap) is a graphical representation of Motion where the individual values contained in a matrix are represented as colors. Fractal maps and tree maps both often use a similar system of color-coding to represent the values taken by a variable in a hierarchy.

HIDDNS is a FREE dynamic domain name server provided by Vanatge. HIDDNS service translates Dynamic IP address into a static URL which we are more commonly used to. It does this by communicating with your router and updating itself whenever your IP updates.

HDTVI (High Definition Transport Video Interface) is latest HD analog video solution. HDTVI can provide HD video up to 1080P resolution at real time. Different from HD-CVI and HD-SDI solutions, HDTVI can support long distance video transmission which reaches up to 500 meters.

An intrusion detection system (IDS) is a software application that monitors motion activities in a restrcited area and raise the alarm and start recording as per specified recording  configuration.

Bitrate refers to the number of bits—or the amount of data—that are processed over a certain amount of time. In Vanatge IP Cameras High Definition video image can be obtained on very low bit rate. 

Tripwire Detection is used to define a virtual line within the camera view where an alert can be generated if an object is detected crossing the line. The user is able to configure which direction objects traveling across the tripwire will trigger an alarm.

Multi-address mode is an NVR (Network Video Recorder) function on networks with more than one Network port. Each Network Port works independently with separate parameter settings, which can be assigned with a different IP address in a different network. Multi-address mode can be used to establish network isolation.

Net-Fault Tolerance Mode is the property of NVR in which more than one Network Interface Controller(NIC) used for the redundancy. If one NIC get stoped working due to any intruption then other NIC will make the network and NVR will not face breakdown situation.

N+1 hot spare provide redundancy to the NVR. When an NVR fails to connect to the network, a hot spare NVR will take its place to ensure data integrity and reliability. After the failed NVR is online, the hot spare NVR will send the data back to the working NVR.

P-Iris is an automatic, precise iris control . It involves a P-Iris lens and specialized software that optimize image quality. The system is designed to address the shortcomings of an auto-iris lens. P-Iris provides improvements in contrast, clarity, resolution and depth of field.

Vertical format, also Corridor Mode or vertical view mode, is a method of rotating the camera to record with a vertical (tall) orientation instead of the traditional horizontal (wide) orientation.

Vanatge Offers region entrance features which is a behaviour analysis function. If Any one try to enter in pre-defined restricted area then camera will detect the event and raise the alarm and start recording with pre-specified record configuration.

If Any one try to change the installed camera direction so that camera record the different location Video, The camera will detect change in camera direction and raise the alarm and start recording with pre-specified record configuration.

Smart Playback is a feature of Vantage NVRs. Smart Playback function give less important to video which have very less information . In Smart Playback mode, the system will analyze the video containing the motion or VCA (Video Content Analytics) information. The video with motion or VCA will be played at normal speed while the one without motion or VCA information will be played at up to 16-times speed. The Smart Playback rules and areas are configurable.

Sudden Audio Increase/Decrease Detection is a feature of Vanatge Cameras.  If there is sudden audio change, either increase or decrease, the camera will automatically detect the event and raise the alarm and start recording with pre-specified record configuration.

 Triple stream means the IP camera can simultaneously output three different video streams, each of video streams can be configured with different resolution, frame rate, bitrate and codec type. Triple streams give much more flexibility to users by allowing different data stream to be send simultaneously, and each for independent purposes. Vantage IP cameras support triple streams:

- Main stream: full resolution
- Sub stream: low resolution
- 3rd stream: flexible choice (full, low or dynamic resolution)

Vantage NVR support transcode stream for remote view and playback. This stream is used at such location where the bandwidth is limited. In that caes we have to reduce the frame rate and bandwidth to fulfill the needs of a low-bandwidth network.

Vantage Offers Video Quality detection feature that can detect the abnormility of the video image and raise the alarm and can link to the mails.

Zero Channel Feature is the feature of NVR in which multiple channel videos can be combines to one channel and that will save the bandwidth of transmission.

DCIF(Double Commom Intermidiate Format) is a video compression whose resolution is 528 x 384 pixels.

Dual Stream means the camera can output two simultaneous video streams with different codecs, such as JPEG plus MPEG-4, or JPEG plus H.264. It's useful for recording high-quality video while also transmitting the same pictures over a network with limited bandwidth.

Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) is a simplified version of Network Time Protocol (NTP) that is used to synchronize computer clocks on a network. This simplified version of NTP is generally used when full implementation of NTP is not needed.

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an application–layer protocol defined by the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) in RFC1157 for exchanging management information between network devices. It is a part of Transmission Control Protocol⁄Internet Protocol (TCP⁄IP) protocol suite.

QCIF (Quarter Commom Intermidiate Format) is a video compression whose resolution is 176 x 144 pixels.

 Panning refers to rotating or pivoting a motion picture or video camera horizontally from a fixed position.

Group of Pictures, or GOP structure, specifies the order in which intra- and inter-frames are arranged. The GOP is a group of successive pictures within a coded video stream. Each coded video stream consists of successive GOP's.

DNS is an abbreviation for Domain Name System, a system for naming computers and network services that is organized into a hierarchy of domains. DNS naming is used in TCP/IP networks, such as the Internet, to locate computers and services through user-friendly names.

CIF(Commom Intermidiate Format) is a video compression whose resolution is 352 x 288 pixels.

Network Time Protocol (NTP) is a protocol that is used to synchronize computer clock times in a network of computers.

CMOS is a type of integrated circuit chip manufacturing process that can be used for many things, including digital camera image sensors. CMOS camera sensors are generally cheaper to manufacture than competing CCD based sensors.

A charge-coupled device (CCD) is a light-sensitive integrated circuit that stores and displays the data for an image in such a way that each pixel (picture element) in the image is converted into an electical charge the intensity of which is related to a color in the color spectrum.

The baud rate is the rate at which information is transferred in a communication channel. In the serial port context, "9600 baud" means that the serial port is capable of transferring a maximum of 9600 bits per second.

As the camera tilts through the vertical position, the camera rotates to maintain the correct orientation of the image.

Auto iris lenses incorporate an electronically controlled iris, which allows the lens to maintain one light level making them ideal for outdoor use or any applications with varying light conditions.

An autofocus (or AF) optical system uses a sensor, a control system and a motor or tunable optical element to focus on an automatically or manually selected point or area. 

Composite video is usually in standard formats such as NTSC, PAL, and SECAM and is often designated by the CVBS initialism, for color, video, blanking and sync, or simply as video.

Signal to noise ratio refers to the signal that delivers a clean video surveillance feed. Most security cameras will want to have a very hi ratio, so that video is not grainy and unclear. The security cameras that we use have CCD chip sets, which allows for signal to noise ratios up to 58db. This produces amazing video quality in the day and especially in very low-light situations or even total darkness.

The automatic white balance setting controls the automatic adjustment of the light source’s color temperature, which will adjust the picture’s color to maintain the “best” image. It keeps white objects white on the CCTV camera’s output.

Automatic gain control is a form of technology which is going to increase your signal strength when there is inadequate lighting for your camera.AGC causes an increase in the video signals.

Progressive scan is a technology associated with an IP camera's imaging sensor and is used when transmitting, displaying or storing moving images.

A fisheye lens is an ultra wide-angle lens that produces strong visual distortion intended to create a wide panoramic or hemispherical image.

In digital telecommunication, the bit rate is the number of bits that pass a given point in a telecommunication network in a given amount of time, usually a second. Thus, a bit rate is usually measured in some multiple of bits per second - for example, kilobits, or thousands of bits per second (Kbps).

Codec is a coder-decoder or, less commonly, compressor-decompressor. A codec encodes a data stream or signal for transmission, storage or encryption, or decodes it for playback or editing. Codecs are used in videoconferencing, streaming media, and video editing applications.

Vantage IP camera can compress video images in more than one codec, such as H.265,H.264,MPEG4 and MJPEG.

Some light sources are flickering lights, such as fluorescent lights. Human eyes may not notice it but cameras can notice it. It may cause flickering or rolling artifacts on the video. Use anti-flickering option to match the lighting condition of the scene to avoid these artifacts.

A pan–tilt–zoom camera (PTZ camera) is a camera that is capable of remote directional and zoom control. PTZ controls are used with professional video cameras in television studios, sporting events, and other spaces.

Unshielded twisted pair cable is the most common kind of copper cable. Twisted pair is the ordinary copper wire that connects home and many business computers to the telephone company. To reduce crosstalk or electromagnetic induction between pairs of wires, two insulated copper wires are twisted around each other.
